ShipRules AI works on all Shopify plans. Some features require specific Shopify plan levels.

What works on every Shopify plan
Section titled “What works on every Shopify plan”These features are available regardless of your Shopify plan:
- Rule management — create conditions, overrides, and adjustments for your shipping methods
- NLP prompt — describe your shipping in plain English and let AI set up your rules
- Rate simulation — test your shipping rules with sample carts before going live
- Product groups — organise products into groups for targeted shipping rules
- Version control — snapshot your config, compare diffs, and roll back changes
- Import / export — back up and restore your shipping configuration as JSON
- API access — programmatic access to your shipping rules (per ShipRules plan tier)
What requires Shopify Advanced or higher
Section titled “What requires Shopify Advanced or higher”Carrier-calculated rates at checkout — when a customer reaches checkout, Shopify calls ShipRules AI to calculate shipping rates in real time based on your rules. This uses the Shopify Carrier Service API, which is restricted to Advanced plans and above.
Shadow mode — compares ShipRules rates against your current Shopify rates side by side. Requires carrier-calculated shipping to function.
Without carrier-calculated shipping, you can still use ShipRules to manage and test your rules. You would then configure flat-rate shipping in Shopify’s native settings based on your ShipRules configuration.
The Grow plan option
Section titled “The Grow plan option”If you’re on the Shopify Grow plan (formerly “Shopify”), you have two options:
- Switch to annual billing — carrier-calculated shipping activates automatically at no extra cost
- Monthly add-on — approximately $20/month added to your existing plan. Contact Shopify Support to enable it
How to check your Shopify plan
Section titled “How to check your Shopify plan”- Open your Shopify admin
- Go to Settings → Plan
- Your current plan is shown at the top
You can also check in ShipRules AI under Settings → Shop Info, which shows your Shopify plan and carrier rate eligibility.
